I write about culture and humans (some famous, some just downright cool).

My first and most extraordinary boss in publishing was the late great literary agent, Connie Clausen. I went on to write and edit for the book packager Melcher Media before co-founding the Webby award–winning Nerve, a magazine and dating site that Entertainment Weekly described as “Playboy’s body with the New Yorker’s brain.” I have also been a features director at Glamour, the editorial director of Seventeen.com and a story editor at the New York Times Magazine. Anthologies I’ve edited include Sex and Sensibility: True Romances from the Lives of Single Women and Thirty Things Every Woman Should Have and Should Know By the Time She’s 30.

I recently moved from Brooklyn, New York, to Petaluma, California, with my husband, Ted McCann, and two sons, Finneus and Oliver.
